Local logging, processing, production and finish carpentry provide numerous jobs FOR year round residents.

Local carpenters are proud to work with timbers and lumber which are locally harvested and milled. We feel satisfied to know that the land has been cared for in the best possible ways. The quality, strength and beauty of the wood is superior to what what we can buy off-island, and the cost is competitive. Our customers value the opportunity to reduce their energy footprint and support the local economy. “Value Added” on all levels!

It was important to us to minimize our environmental footprint as much as possible during the farmhouse reno, so our first choice was always to reuse the old wood from the original house. Where this wasn’t possible, it felt so great to be able to use sustainably grown and harvested wood from Cortes Island. What amazed me the most, apart from the beautiful wood quality, was that it wasn’t more expensive than buying wood from the local big box hardware store!
